Book: Chuck Smith Autobiography (A Memoir of Grace) by Chuck Smith Jr.

In times of trouble, trial, pain or loss, we often can’t see the value in what we’re experiencing. We don’t realize what God is doing, or why He has allowed us to struggle.
But there comes a day when we look back over the road map of our lives, and we understand, finally. We see the dots laid out along the path, and the events God permitted in order to move us to our destination.
I am pleased to invite you to pull up a chair and listen as Pastor Chuck tells the story of his life. This book is presented to you with the prayer that what you read will help you see how God s grace is at work in your own life.
Everything you have experienced in the past, everything you’re going through now, and everything that awaits you on the path ahead is all part of God’s plan. His will for you is perfect, and He knows just how to prepare you for your life s purpose. Everything is preparation for something else.

Book: Living Water (The Power of the Holy Spirit in Your Life) by Chuck Smith

Jesus promised His confused disciples that He would not leave them as orphans, but that He would pray to the Father who would send them another Comforter who would come alongside to help them and would abide with them forever. Jesus promised that the Holy Spirit would teach them all things and bring to their remembrance all the things that He had commanded them.
In his warm personal style, Pastor Chuck Smith, a bible teacher for over 50 years, paints an intimate picture of the work of the Holy Spirit in the life of the believer. He is to conform you into the image of Christ. He is to come alongside of you to help you in your walk. He is to teach you all things. He is to give you an understanding of spiritual things. He is to give you the power to be a witness of Jesus Christ.
There is a vast difference between being filled with the Holy Spirit and having the Holy Spirit flow forth out of your life like a torrent of living water. Pastor Smith will lead you step by step into this rich and intimate relationship with God which is made possible by the work of the Holy Spirit. You will experience the refreshing streams of living water filling your life then flowing forth from your life unto a thirsty world.

Book: Calvinism, Arminianism, and the Word of God (A Calvary Chapel Perspective) by Chuck Smith

Calvinism and Arminianism . . . since the Protestant Reformation in the 16th Century, Christian churches and leaders have disagreed over such issues as depravity, God’s sovereignty, human responsibility, election, predestination, and eternal security, as well as the nature and the extent of the atonement of Jesus Christ.
In the midst of this tumultuous debate, it is easy to ignore the plain statements of the Bible and to believe we have the ability to fully understand God’s ways.
How tragic it is when we become more concerned with being “right” than being loving. Our desire at Calvary Chapel is to bring believers together in the love, truth, and unity of the Holy Spirit, focusing on our awesome God rather than on ourselves.

Book: When the Storms Hits (Staying Anchored On The Rock) by Chuck Smith
Sometimes when hardships come into our lives, we may think it is because we are doing something wrong. But sometimes those calamities come because of our obedience, not our disobedience. The truth is storms of trouble come to all of us at one time or another.
In the book “When the Storm Hits”, Pastor Chuck Smith brings encouragement to anyone struggling with life’s burdens. We love those green pastures and still waters. But we are not really excited about a valley. We love to follow the Lord when things are going the way we want them to go. But when we come across a rough patch, we put on the brakes. We don’t want to go through that hardship.
God may not always deliver us from the storms of life, but He is always faithful to be with us as we go through them. There are things we learn in hardships and trials that we don’t learn anywhere else. Where there are no trials in life, there are no triumphs. God has His purposes in the storms. And just as Jesus was with His disciples, He will be with us, too.
This book is a great read and I believe it will restore hope and peace to the weariest of believers!

Video: What is a Successful Church? by Pastor Chuck Smith of Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa
We usually post a recommend book but this month we are posting a recommend video. Our definitions of success are not always the same as God’s. How does your church rate? What is a Successful Church?
Although given at the 2012 Calvary Chapel East Coast Pastors’ Conference, this message is ideal for the whole church. It’s a dose of reality as we realize that our definitions of success are not always the same as God’s and if taken to heart by a congregation, could help a church move forward in unity, seeking the right goals.
When we don’t know how to measure success, we can become discouraged when we should be encouraged, and vice-versa. We can become dissatisfied and angry, finding fault when there is none. We can also become complacent and comfortable when the church is spiritually lacking. This message is a must for everyone in ministry, and will help you understand the measurement of success in God’s eyes.
Are you interested in a life of service to God in ministry or on the mission field? Our definitions of success are not always the same as God’s. This is a special recorded message from late pastor Chuck Smith as he shares encouragement of success in ministry in God’s eyes. This message was given in 2012 at the East Coast Pastors Conference before Pastor Chuck went to be with the Lord in 2013 (after 50 years in ministry faithfully serving Jesus Christ). Be prepared to weather the storms of discouragement and despair!

Book: The Reproducers (New Life for Thousands) by Chuck Smith
Imagine 1,500 people arriving an hour early for church, or watching 500 people be baptized in a few short hours in the pacific ocean, and Bible studies more popular than anything else. These are just a few of the amazing things that transpired during the Jesus movement of the 1970’s and they are captured within the pages of ‘The Reproducers’.
Yes, the stories contained within this book are from forty years ago, but the truths that transformed these lives are as real and true today as they were in 1972 when this book was originally published. It is my prayer that you would be blessed, encouraged, and challenged as you read the testimony of what God did and what He desires to do today through people just like us.

Joe Focht, Pastor at Calvary Chapel of Philadelphia says:
“I believe The Reproducers captures the heartbeat of the Jesus Movement. As I read and re-read the book, I am overwhelmed with the beauty, power, and simplicity of Jesus, His Spirit and His Word. ‘Lord uncomplicate us, cause us to be flexible and grace us with a fresh and continued Jesus Movement.'”

Book: Acts Commentary by Chuck Smith
Through the years, we have had the privilege of seeing the phenomenal, miraculous work of the Holy Spirit in the growth of the Calvary Chapels. Many of these have been learned the hard way, which are fundamental principles that God has blessed. They express God’s intention for the church and are to be found in this commentary study of the book of Acts.
In reality, Acts is an open-ended book. Chapters are still being written today all over the world, as Jesus continues touching and changing lives. Presently, the Holy Spirit is indwelling, empowering, guiding, and teaching those who have put their trust in Jesus Christ.
Pastor Jon Courson says “Pastor Chuck has a uniquely beautiful way of “taking the hay out of the loft and putting it on the barn floor where the cows can eat it! And it caused me to be oh-so-deeply impressed … with Jesus. Thus, it is with a heart of expectancy and anticipation I wholeheartedly commend this Acts commentary to you.”
