Humble Beginnings (2013)
In the summer of 2013, Pastor Tim, his wife Anna, and their two-year-old son left California with the blessing of Calvary Chapel Chico to plant a church in Fergus Falls, Minnesota. They arrived on July 31st and immediately began building relationships, attending community events and visiting neighbors.
Through hosting a Harvest America event with Greg Laurie and a My Hope event with Billy Graham, they connected with neighbors in the community. As they shared their vision for a simple, Bible-teaching home fellowship, the seeds of Calvary Chapel Fergus Falls were planted.
Early Years (2013-2014)
On September 8th, 2013, the church officially began in a home as a small home group. They started with the Gospel of John, learning about the life and ministry of Jesus. The Daily Journal, a local paper, did an article, and as the group slowly grew, they finished John and moved into the book of Acts. It soon became clear they needed a larger space.
Expansion and Growth (2014-2021)
On June 3rd, 2014, the church began meeting in the YMCA community room. They continued studying the book of Acts, focusing on the work of the Holy Spirit. Over the following years, they taught through the Bible book-by-book, completing Romans through Revelation, then Daniel, and eventually beginning again in Genesis.
New Beginnings (2021-Present)
In July 2021, after renovations, the church moved to W Cavour Ave. They picked up in the book of Exodus, learning about the mobile sanctuary called the Tabernacle, and continued their verse-by-verse teaching through the book of Joshua. To help new people get grounded in the faith, they also taught through the Gospel of Matthew, looking at the life and ministry of Jesus.
In 2024, God surprised them with another move. Though they weren’t looking, another local church was closing and gave Calvary the first opportunity to purchase the building on S Cascade St. After renovations, their first service was held on March 3rd. They continued in the Gospel of Matthew, focusing on how Jesus came to rescue us and give us true rest.
In 2025, Voyage Minnesota published a wonderful article highlighting the great things God is doing in our church. Today, Calvary Chapel Fergus Falls continues to grow as a family passionate about God’s Word and genuine Christian community.
Our Hope for the Future
We stand on a legacy of faith and look forward with hope, trusting in God’s promise from Jeremiah 29:11: “For I know the plans I have for you… plans to give you hope and a future.” As we move forward, our vision is to deepen our impact in Fergus Falls and beyond, sharing Christ’s love through vibrant worship, meaningful community, and transformative service.
Our Vision for the Future Includes:
- Growing in Faith: Expanding our small groups and discipleship programs to help every member grow closer to Jesus and live out their faith boldly.
- Empowering the Next Generation: Strengthening our youth and children’s ministries to equip young people with the tools to navigate life with Christ at the center.
- Serving Our Community: Partnering with local organizations to address needs like hunger, housing, and support for families, making Fergus Falls a place where God’s love shines brightly.
- Building Connection: Creating new opportunities for fellowship, from community events to mission trips, so our church family grows stronger together.
