Trail Life USA is a Christ-centered, boy-focused outdoor adventure and character development program where boys learn practical skills, build friendships, develop leadership, and grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ.

Troop MN-1977 is a ministry of Calvary Chapel Fergus Falls and has been serving boys and families in our community since 2022.

Advancement Trail
A Place for Every Age

Boys on the Woodlands Trail (ages 5-10, similar to cub scouts) gain knowledge about outdoor skills, citizenship, character, friendship, and faith through fun activities, awards, and skill instruction. (Fox Patrol ages 5-6, Hawk Patrol ages 7-8, Mountain Lion Patrol ages 9-10)

As Navigators, boys (ages 11-13, similar to boy scouts) gain understanding of their values and beliefs under the guidance of godly male role models through being responsible in outdoor adventures and in their home and school life. They explore areas of interest and earn Trail Badges for advancement. (Recruit Rank, Able Rank, Ready Rank)

As Adventurers, young men (ages 14-17, similar to boy scouts) mature in wisdom and faith through more difficult challenges and leadership activities with Christian men walking alongside. They plan and lead outdoor events and large projects while exercising leadership positions in the Troop, even mentoring some of the younger Trailmen. (Journey Rank, Ascent Rank, Horizon Award, Freedom Award)

What Do Boys Actually Do?

Trail Life isn’t just a classroom program. Boys learn by doing.

Our goal isn’t simply to teach boys information. We want them to put what they learn into practice.

Trail Life USA is built around Christian men investing in the next generation of young men.

We want boys to see godly men living out their faith, not simply hear another lesson about it.

Dads: You Have a Place Here

You don’t have to be an outdoor expert, teacher, or Trail Life veteran to make a difference. Your son doesn’t need another adult who simply tells him what to do. He needs you.

Come alongside him. Learn something together. Try something new. Serve together. Have an adventure. Some dads serve as leaders. Others help when they can. Others simply participate alongside their sons.

There’s a place for you and your son in Troop MN-1977.
